Weightloss

Weight loss is usually people’s number one goal when they get started with a fitness program. It is important to know your weight and know what is a “healthy” weight for your body. However, this is something to be really careful of. People have a tendency to be to concerned with the number on the scale and at times it can dictate your mood and create lots of emotional ups and downs. Do NOT weigh yourself everyday! A person’s weight can fluctuate 3-5 pounds in a day (especially women)! Most of the time this is water weight and bloating NOT fat!

A big part of a healthy lifestyle is your mentality and outlook on your body and how you feel about yourself. You can wake up one day feeling great about how you are eating, your workouts and consistency, how you look in the mirror and how your clothes are fitting. Then, you get on the scale and it isn’t the number you expect or anticipated so now your day is ruined! You ask yourself, why did I even get on the scale? Don’t allow your perception of what your weight “should be” to dictate your emotional state. How you feel, how your clothes fit and how you see yourself in the mirror is what counts NOT the scale!

If you are eating a fresh “clean” diet and focusing on being healthy in all areas of your life (food, fitness, work, family) with a sense of balance your body will reach the optimal weight it “should” be. Every body is different and there are many variables that go into what someone’s weight “should” be. So don’t allow something you read in book or online to dictate what your optimal weight is.

There are many variables that go into what a person “should” weight and we all have different variables between genetics, lifestyle, injuries and body type. So be kind to yourself and know what is realistic for you and your lifestyle and come up with a goal that is attainable so you are not setting yourself up for failure.
