Gym Workout

There is a new term popping up in the fitness industry called High Intensity Interval Training also known as HIIT. HIIT comes in many different forms and can be implemented into your workouts in a variety of ways. HIIT is a specialized form of interval training that involves a brief time period of intense exercise followed by a longer period of steady moderate exercise. A basic example of HIIT is when you are running on the treadmill you add in bursts of intense running. For example if you run at a comfortable pace for 5 minutes then run as hard as you can for 1 minute then go back to your comfortable pace for another 5 minutes, then repeat this several times. The 1 minute interval has to be all out in order to get the benefits of HIIT. These High Intense Intervals have been proven to be very effective in helping people reach their goals. HIIT helps condition both your anaerobic and aerobic energy systems helping you maintain your muscle mass rather then loose it. Traditional cardio training (long and slow) can limit your muscle growth especially during weight loss periods. This is what makes HIIT so great is that you get your cardio training mixed in with your resistance training to maximize your results. HIIT has other benefits that make it a must to add into your workout routines. These benefits include helping you burn more calories then a "traditional" weight workout allowing you to spend less time in the gym as well as increasing your metabolic response so you use more fat as fuel under variety of conditions. HIIT helps with decreasing your stress levels and your appetite along with increasing your overall fitness level. High Intensity Interval Training is something that must be worked up to. It is hard and not recommended to jump right into this type of workout. There are ways to gradually work up to your max efforts without injuring yourself. Not every workout needs to have HIIT, it is recommended to add this style of training into your workouts 2 or 3 times a week. This could be just what your New Year needs a change in your workouts. Good luck with your workout routines and ferrum fitness is always here to help your create and develop a HIIT routine for you.
