By doing a little bit of physical activity in your day you will reap the tremendous benefits that exercise can have on your body. No matter what your age or shape you should do about 30 minutes of exercise at least four days a week. By doing this you will increase your strength, boost your immune system, keep your bones strong along with many other benefits. Lets take a look at some of the major benefits exercise can have.
Exercise helps to prevent major weight gain by burning calories and using up stored fat in the body. The more intense your workout routines the more calories you will burn.
Adding in a strength training program to your weekly exercise program will help to increase your strength. When you increase your strength and build more muscle your body's metabolic rate increases therefore you burn more calories throughout your day. Exercising increases your immune system helping to prevent colds, flu and other viruses. Along with increasing your immune system exercise also helps to prevent other health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, and arthritis to name a few. Need a boost to your mood and energy levels?? Exercise also helps stimulate various brain chemicals that can help you feel better and more relaxed after a stressful day. By working out you increase your endurance and cardiovascular capacity giving you more energy to do normal daily activities such as grocery shopping. If you are having trouble sleeping exercise could be your solution! This is another great benefit of exercise, it can help you fall asleep faster as well as sleep deeper. As you can see exercise is beneficial in so many ways. It is like a fountain of youth! There are so many different ways to get exercise; take a walk around your neighbor, take a hike, ride a bike, go to the gym, get a personal trainer, play intramural sports, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park further away from the store when you are running errands. Some of these might seem silly but they add up over time. The idea keep your body in motion. Exercise is good for the mind, body and soul. Always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program and think about getting a personal trainer if you are looking into starting at a gym. Remember to drink plenty of water to help keep your body hydrated during your new exercise program. Good luck on your journey to a more active lifestyle. Keep on moving!
